Agreed! Your plots for a remake are great but I still feel that the series needs a new sequel/prequel of which I seriously think the series will be getting in the later part of this year or the early part of next. Have you ever watched Devil Doll? That's a cool 40's movie about a dummy that holds the possessed soul of a man who is under command of a man (the man that took hus soul and put it in the dummy)

Glad you like them! Yes, I would like a sequel or prequel (But a sequel would be better) more than a remake, but it's fun to discuss, especially with so many sequels to incorporate parts of!

And yes, I have seen parts of DD (Not the whole thing as of yet), and thought it was pretty creepy myself... However, since the movie was on Mystery Science Theatre it's unlikely 75% of film fans will give it the same chance :P

I think the most chilling part of the movie was when Corky attacked his manager with Fats, the dummy. Having Fats rush at the camera with his mouth open made me gasp. Also, the film shows that Duke was more interested in looking at Fats and not the curtain of which Corky was hiding behind. Dark, raw, had some romance, all the elements were in good tempo with one another.

I agree, Duke's death was done much better. I recall watching it the first time and thinking "Holy crap, now this is getting surreal!", until seeing it was indeed a human hand gripping the knife o_O, spooky stuff... In the book I'd imagine I would see it coming.

Another improved bit about the scene was the fact Corky used his own whittling-blade instead of Duke's cutlery, much more significant. IMO

Have you read the book? It's very much the same to the movie but it's still a very good read! The director of the movie is the writer of the book!

I honestly wasn't that impressed with the book. The novel's more straight-out narrative style could be played around with, and I think was likewise a lot more suited to a movie. Though I think the book had some interesting concepts which were left out of the movie (Peggy's list debating staying with Duke or taking Corky, "The Wisdom of Fats", Corky's backstory...), I think it's a more relateable, chilling picture without it. Corky doesn't have his split-persona write notes or smoke with him, nor did the persona come to him during a suicide attempt, it's quite simply there, both saving his life and destroying it.

The disapproval of the book is no offense to you of course, it just happens you are one of the few people I know who are familiar with both versions and can debate opinions with. XP

Ironically, Marathon Man, which was also written by William Goldman, is my second-favorite movie. In that case I actually think the book and movie are pretty much exactly neck-and-neck.
